Saw a pitch at Detroit Startup Week that flipped my whole approach to customer feedback

Some guy from a mobility startup said he stopped asking 'what do you think' and started asking 'what would make you pay $50 for this' and within 3 months his churn dropped by 40%, has anyone else tried rewording their survey questions like that?

The_rowan's bakery story is a perfect example of how it's not just about the words themselves, it's about giving people permission to think differently. I've been on the receiving end of those vague "how was it" surveys and they honestly feel like a waste of time, you know? Nobody really answers those with any thought. But a question that asks for a specific action, especially one that involves money, forces your brain to actually consider value versus just a general opinion. It's not overthinking, it's just being smarter about human nature. That churn drop is wild, but it makes sense when you realize most people don't know what they want until you give them a very specific choice to react to.

Oh man, my buddy runs a small bakery and he tried something similar. He swapped "how's the cake" for "what would make you buy this every week" and his regular orders shot up like crazy. People just needed a nudge to think about it differently.

Hold up, is tweaking one question really that big of a deal? It feels like people overthink this whole nudge thing way too much. I bet just being friendly and consistent matters way more than getting the exact wording right.
