Tried a local Detroit startup's AI invoicing tool and it nuked my QuickBooks data

I tested AutoLedger from that new Corktown incubator on a few test invoices last Tuesday and somehow it duplicated 40 entries and locked me out of my account. Had to spend 3 hours on hold with support to roll it back. Anyone else run into half-baked automation tools burning real time?

Did you check if the tool has a sandbox environment first? Most of these newer startups don't give you a separate testing space but you really need one before letting anything touch your live accounting data. I always run new automation tools on a totally separate dummy company file first, even if it means setting up a second QuickBooks account. Also make sure you're doing a full backup of your company file before trying anything that can write data back. That 3 hours on hold could have been avoided if you had a backup to restore from yourself.

Did @claire_young76 also mention that most of these tools have fine print that basically says "we probably broke your data but it's your fault"? Im convinced half these startups are just people trying to see if they can make accounting software explode for fun. At least the 3 hour hold gave you time to reconsider your life choices.

People keep jumping on these "smart" tools thinking they'll save time but theyre just beta testers paying for the privilege. Last month my buddy's landscaping company tried one for scheduling and it double-booked three crews on a Saturday. The whole modern tech scene acts like they're doing you a favor while they work out the bugs on your dime.
