Two years ago I swore off digital tools for my flooring business, now I use them everyday
I used to run my whole solo flooring operation with a paper calendar and a spiral notebook. Thought apps and software were just another monthly fee I didn't need. Then I messed up a big commercial job in Royal Oak because I lost a sticky note with the client's room measurements. That was the last straw, so I spent $15 a month on a simple project management app. Now I track everything from material orders to payment schedules, and I actually finish jobs ahead of schedule instead of scrambling. Has anyone else here had a moment where a small digital tool completely changed how you work?

That "napkin with a customer's quote" really hits home. One little slip like that can cost you way more than just a few dollars in materials.

Totally heard a similar story from a buddy who does landscaping. He said the same thing about losing a napkin with a customer's quote on it. It's funny how one big screwup is all it takes to finally give in and try the tech stuff.

Oh man, that is exactly how it goes. I had a similar thing happen with a client's order I scribbled on a sticky note and it fell off my monitor and landed behind my desk, took me two days to find it and by then I had already ordered the wrong stuff. It's like the universe just forces you to get organized when you're too stubborn to do it yourself.
