Why nobody talks about using local coffee shop wifi for remote work
I finally gave up on my home internet and started working from a coffee shop downtown on Woodward. My upload speeds went from 12 mbps to 45 mbps and my Zoom calls stopped dropping. Turns out the cafe uses a business fiber line while my home is on basic cable. Has anyone else noticed big speed differences working from local spots around Detroit?

Oh man, is it really that big of a deal though? I mean yeah, home internet can be a joke sometimes but swapping to a coffee shop seems like a lot of hassle for a few extra mbps. You gotta deal with the noise, the crowd, the barista giving you the side eye if you don't buy something every hour. Plus those chairs are never comfortable for a full workday. But hey if your Zoom calls were dropping that bad I get it, just feels like there's easier fixes like calling your provider and yelling at them first.
