A stuck injector on a 6.7 Powerstroke in a Wyoming blizzard taught me a new trick
I was helping a friend get his plow truck running outside of Cheyenne when the third injector just would not seat. The cold made everything brittle and my usual puller was useless. I ended up warming the bore with a shop light for about 20 minutes and tapping the injector body with a brass punch at a slight angle, which finally got it to pop free without damage. Has anyone else found a good way to deal with frozen injectors in extreme cold?

Makes you appreciate how patient mechanics have to be.

Man, that sounds like a rough spot to be in. I mean, I've never had to pull an injector in a blizzard, but I did have a water pump freeze solid on an old farm truck one time. Couldn't get the bolts to budge at all, even with heat. Ended up having to let the whole truck thaw in a buddy's shed for like two days before we could even start on it. Cold metal just does not want to cooperate.

Yeah, that thawing out period is the worst. Had a similar thing with a seized caliper bolt last winter. A good penetrating oil soak over a couple days did the trick for me. What kind of heat were you trying?
