Feel your pain on that one... some folks just don't get that duct tape isn't magic.

You know duct tape has its limits, though, even if it feels like a miracle worker sometimes. (Had a buddy try to seal his tailpipe with it once, didn't end well.) It's a temporary fix for little stuff, not a real solution for anything under pressure.

Story of my life with a leaky hose clamp on an old farm truck. A roll of electrical tape and a few zip ties got me to the next town where I could actually replace the part. Did you ever try a temporary fix that held up better than expected?

Oh for goodness sake. I had a man once who wanted me to patch a radiator hose with duct tape and a soda can at a truck stop in Wichita. I told him flat out that was a fire risk and he'd be stranded on the highway if it blew. What worked for me was laying out the simple truth: that tape might hold for a few miles, but a proper patch kit from the auto parts store down the road would cost less than twenty bucks and actually get him home. I even offered to call the store to check their hours. He grumbled but finally agreed, and he came back later to thank me because the patch held all the way to Kansas City. Sometimes people just need the facts laid out clearly without being made to feel stupid about it.
