Finally gave in and tried a Milwaukee M18 stubby impact on a stubborn oil filter housing
I mean, I always swore by my big 1/2 inch air gun for everything, even on those tight spots. But last month at the shop in Tempe, my buddy handed me his M18 after I was fighting a 6.7 Powerstroke for twenty minutes. Thing zipped it right off, no fuss. Anyone else switch from air to electric for specific jobs like that?

My old air hose is basically a fancy doorstop since I got my stubby.

Yeah, that "zipped it right off" feeling is why my air hose stays coiled up more often now. My old IR gun collects dust for anything under 150 ft-lbs.

Funny how that works. Once you feel the difference in power delivery, it's hard to go back to wrestling with a hose. What's your go-to cordless impact now? I'm asking because I keep seeing people swear by the Milwaukee stubby but then hear others saying the new Ridgid compact is just as good for half the price. I've been burned by battery platform lock-in before so I'm trying to get real opinions before I drop cash on a new set.

Switched my whole shop over to electric last year. The cordless tools just get into places my air hoses never could. Now I only drag out the big compressor for the really heavy truck work.
