Hit 300,000 miles on a 6.7 Powerstroke I've been nursing along for years

I've been the only guy working on this 2012 F-250 since it had 80k on the clock, doing all the maintenance myself (you know, the usual stuff). Everyone at the shop said it'd be lucky to see 200k without a major turbo or fuel system failure, but I just kept up with the oil changes and fuel filters. The odometer rolled over last Thursday on my way home from a job in Toledo, and I actually pulled over to take a picture. It felt like a quiet win against the common idea that these engines are time bombs. Has anyone else had a truck prove the doubters wrong by just running and running?

Quiet win against the common idea" is a good way to put it. I read a piece a while back where a fleet manager said the difference between a blown motor and a 300k motor on those was almost always just consistent filter changes. Sounds like you're living proof. That's a real milestone.

Remember that old push mower my grandpa had? Thing was from the 70s. He'd just dump in fresh gas, sharpen the blade now and then. Never even changed the oil, just topped it off. Ran for decades. Makes you think how tough some stuff was built before they made everything disposable.

How many times have we heard that old engines just can't last? I used to buy into that idea until I saw my buddy's truck, like @ryanc57 said, hit 350k just by sticking to the simple stuff. Changing the oil and air filter on time, every time, really is the whole secret, isn't it? Makes you wonder what else we get wrong about keeping things running.

My dad's old Ford hit 400k on just oil changes, lol.
