I used to fight with every stuck injector, now I just walk away for 10 minutes

For years, my go-to move on a seized injector was more heat, more force, and a lot of swearing. I'd torch the thing, reef on it with a slide hammer, and usually end up damaging the bore or the injector itself. About a year ago, I was working on a Duramax in our Denver shop and I just got so fed up I walked out to the parking lot for a smoke. Came back 10 minutes later, gave the puller one more tap, and it popped right out like nothing. The heat had finally soaked all the way through and evenly expanded everything. Now, if it doesn't come out on the first good pull, I set a timer, go do something else, and let physics do the work. It's saved me so much time and broken parts. Anyone else have a simple 'walk away' trick that actually works?

My old man always said the best mechanic is a patient one. I see it now with my kids, where forcing a solution just makes the tantrum worse. Sometimes the fix is just to stop trying so hard.

Patience is the best tool in the box for stuck parts.

Yeah, shane_park92's dad had it right, saw a similar thing in a book once.
