That one time a fleet of school buses all had the same weird injector knock

Got a call from the county garage about six buses with a tapping sound that wouldn't go away. Spent two days checking everything from valve lash to fuel pressure before I found a bad batch of fuel at their main pump. The sulfur content was way off, maybe from a bad delivery, and it was gunking up the injectors on every rig that filled up that week. Anyone else run into fuel quality causing a weird knock across a whole fleet?

Ever run a bottle of fuel system cleaner through after bad gas? That's my go-to move. Had the same rough idle thing happen with my truck last year. Picked up a bottle of the cheap stuff from the auto parts store, ran the tank low, and dumped it in before filling up. Cleared it right out after about twenty miles of driving.
