Finally finished a piece I've been wrestling with for 3 days straight

I've been working on this digital portrait in Procreate for what felt like forever, and last night around 2 AM it just clicked. The lighting finally looked right and the skin tones stopped looking like plastic. Anyone else have those nights where you just stare at the canvas until something suddenly works?

Yo that 2 AM breakthrough hits different, once I stayed up all night fixing a single eye on a painting lmao.

The "fixing a single eye" thing is so real. I've been there where you stare at one tiny part for hours and suddenly it just clicks. That 2 AM brain fog is weirdly helpful sometimes. Eventually you just have to accept the painting is done and go to bed though.

Oh man, @shanef34 that 2 AM eye thing happened to me three weeks ago on a portrait I was painting. I spent like 4 hours adjusting the left eye over and over until it finally looked alive, and then I passed out on the couch with paint on my hands. The next morning I woke up and thought it was garbage but actually it was the best part of the whole painting. That weird late night focus is magic even if you feel like a zombie during it.
