I kept my digital art files on one hard drive for 5 years

My computer crashed last week and I lost everything for a client project, about 20 hours of work. I had a backup, but it was from 6 months ago, so it was useless. A friend asked me if I used cloud storage and I just stared at him. I'd always thought my external drive was safe enough, you know? Now I'm setting up automatic saves to two different places. How often do you guys actually back up your working files?

Ugh, I feel that. My backup plan used to be just hoping really hard. Now my computer yells at me every Friday to do it.
