My drawing tablet crapped out mid-project on Friday

Was working on a commissioned portrait piece, 6 hours in, and the screen just went black on my Huion. I know it's 3 years old so I can't complain too much but the timing was brutal. Customer wanted it done by Sunday so I had to finish the last 4 hours of detail work on my old Wacom that's half the size. Got it done but my hand cramped up something fierce. Has anyone else had a main piece of gear fail at the worst possible moment? How do you bounce back quick?

Doesn't it seem like important stuff always breaks at the worst possible time? Had my car blow a tire on the way to pick up a custom printed batch once, not my gear but same kind of panic. My rule now is to keep a backup of anything critical ready to go just in case. Makes bouncing back a lot easier when you already have a plan for the disaster.

Ngl, the "backup ready" rule is the only thing that's saved me more than once. I keep a spare hard drive in my bag just for that reason now. Honest truth is, you learn to expect the worst after it happens a couple times.
