Ngl, my whole piece glitched right before a big client review

I was working on a character portrait in Procreate last Tuesday, about 2 hours before the call, when the app crashed and corrupted the file. I had to rebuild the lighting from a 3-day-old backup and basically redo the entire background layer from memory. Has anyone else had a close call like this and what's your backup plan now?

Yeah, laura_chen41's cloud backup tip saved me too!

Ugh that's the worst feeling. I read a thread last week where an illustrator lost a whole comic page to a power outage. They said they set up auto-backup to both cloud and an external drive now, like every 15 minutes. I started doing that too, it's a lifesaver. I even save new versions with the date in the filename before I make any big changes. Can't trust just one save anymore.

My old laptop died mid project last year and I lost three days of work. Now I use version control software like Git for my text files, it tracks every single change automatically. For big design files I do what you said, save a new copy with a timestamp before any major edit. It feels like overkill until your computer crashes and then you're just glad you did it.
