Shoutout to digital artists who post their whole workflow
I saw a full process video from a skilled artist last week. It made me realize that keeping art steps secret stops new folks from learning. Shouldn't we all share how we make our pieces?

I used to believe that guarding your process was the way to go. After watching a few full workflow videos, my mind was changed completely. It shows how much we can learn from each other's steps and mistakes. Keeping things secret does feel like it holds back the whole community. In my view, sharing more openly helps everyone grow, but take that with a grain of salt.

That's not really what he was saying though.

Seriously? It's just making stuff, not curing cancer. Doubt the whole community lives or dies because someone keeps their methods quiet.

Reading @park.miles's comment, and I get why sharing workflows seems helpful. But saying it holds back the whole community? That's a bit much. People have their reasons for keeping things quiet, and it doesn't mean we're all falling behind. Sometimes you just want to figure things out on your own, you know? I guess I'm not convinced it's as serious as some make it out to be.
