Why does nobody talk about using undo in 3D sculpting?

I spent 2 hours on a character model yesterday, messed up the ear, and almost rage quit. Then I remembered undo exists and saved myself 90 minutes of redoing everything. Has anyone else forgotten basic tools exist?

Remembered undo exists" - that got me lol because I've definitely been there. But here's what I'm wondering though: do you find yourself forgetting undo more when you're deep in a flow state and just cranking through the sculpt? Because for me, that's when I seem to lose all my basic brain functions and start doing things the hard way. Like I'll manually smooth out a mistake for 10 minutes before it dawns on me I could just hit ctrl+z and be done with it in half a second. It's weird how our brains just shut off the simple solutions when we're really focused on a project.

Oh man, yes! That's exactly what I do. I'll be so zoned in that I completely forget basic shortcuts exist. But here's something I'm curious about - do you ever find yourself NOT wanting to use undo because you feel like you should have known better? Like, I get this weird guilt about it sometimes, like I should have caught the mistake before it happened so using undo feels like cheating. Even though that makes zero sense haha.

Oh god, this is so me with everything honestly. Like I'll be cooking and reach for a knife to open a bag instead of just using the scissors that are right there. Our brains just go on autopilot and skip the obvious shortcuts when we're focused on the main thing.
