A local news site in my town pulled a story about a city council vote after a call from the mayor's office.
The article was up for about six hours and detailed how the vote went against a developer's proposal. I saw it, then it was just gone with no note. I only know about the call because a friend works there and told me. How often do you think this kind of quiet takedown happens on smaller sites?

Ever wonder why local news feels like a magic show? The disappearing act is the best part...

Check the public notices section in your local paper, shane_hayes, that's where the real stuff hides. They have to post things like zoning changes and meeting minutes by law, so it doesn't just vanish. Most people skip right past it, but it's the only part that isn't just fluff. You can actually see what they're planning before it's a done deal.

Wait, you're telling me the public notices are actually required by law? I always figured that stuff was just filler they threw in when they had extra space. Shane_hayes is right about the magic show, but maybe we're the ones not looking at the right part of the stage. I need to go find a real paper and see what's hiding in mine.
