Spent $60 on a VPN to read a blocked article and it totally changed my view
I wanted to read a news piece my local library's wifi blocked, so I bought a subscription. Now I'm wondering how many other stories I've missed because of simple geo-blocking.

Just a heads up, a lot of libraries block stuff for legal reasons, not just geo-blocking. You can sometimes ask a librarian for help getting to that info for free, lol.

Oh for sure. My buddy was trying to find some old court records for a project and hit a wall online. He asked at the library and the librarian knew exactly which database to get him into for free.

Wait, hold on. Libraries actually block stuff for legal reasons? I never even thought about that. I just assumed if something wasn't on the regular internet it was either behind a paywall or just not digitized. That's kind of wild though, like what kind of legal stuff would they be blocking? Is it like old sealed court cases or something? Now I'm genuinely curious what weird stuff librarians have to navigate around.

I used to think libraries were outdated, but "ask a librarian for help" really changed my mind.
