Stumbled on a stat about 40% of deleted tweets get restored by the platform

I was digging through some transparency reports from Twitter (or X, whatever) last night and found this crazy thing. Apparently they restore around 40% of tweets that get taken down after appeals, but most people never even bother to appeal. I read it on some digital rights blog that was breaking down their 2023 numbers. That stat blew my mind because it makes me wonder how much legit speech gets axed just because nobody fights it. Has anyone here actually gone through the appeals process on any of these big platforms and gotten something put back up?

40% of deleted tweets get restored" is wild. I figured the appeal system was basically a black hole, not something that actually works a decent chunk of the time.

Yeah that stat surprised me too. Changed my mind completely.

The flip side nobody talks about is what happens when a tweet does get restored. That user now has to decide if they want to keep posting knowing the platform might be watching them closer. Ive heard from a few people who got tweets back but then noticed their accounts got shadowbanned or their reach dropped way off afterwards. Could be a coincidence but it makes you wonder if appealing flags you somehow. Maybe the 40 percent rate is more of a trap than a second chance depending on how you look at it.
