Switched from Twitter to a private Discord server for news sharing
I used to just retweet breaking news from random accounts on Twitter but half of it got flagged or deleted within hours. About 6 months ago I started a small Discord server with 15 friends where we post links and screenshots directly. Now I get unfiltered updates from local sources in Portland without worrying about some algorithm burying it. Anyone else found a better workaround than the big platforms?

Bet half that "unfiltered" stuff is just your buddy's cousin's conspiracy theory.

Man, I get it. Hooking up a private server with people you trust is the only way to dodge all that noise and deletion drama. It's rough out there when the big platforms treat basic news like some kind of liability.

Oh I hear you on the "deletion drama" stuff... but @wyatt135 has a point even if he said it a little rough. Half the time someone's bragging about "unfiltered" news it's just a guy who screenshotted a tweet from a verified bot account. I've seen people pass around old Reuters photos with new captions claiming something crazy happened last week... turns out it was from 2019. The big platforms delete stuff because they're scared of lawsuits not because they hate your freedom.
