Tbh, I never got why people defended climate hoax posts until now
Seeing activists get silenced for sharing data changed my view. Ngl, free speech matters more than I thought.

Wait, but what kind of data are we talking about here? A lot of times, posts called 'climate hoax' stuff share info that's been debunked... like old studies or out of context numbers. Free speech is key, sure, but spreading wrong facts can hurt real efforts to fix things. I get why silencing feels bad, but maybe it's more about stopping false info, not just shutting down talk. The science on climate change is pretty solid from what I've seen... so defending hoax posts might just confuse people more. It's a tricky balance, I guess.

Honestly, I feel you on this. It's a rough spot, because nobody wants to be lied to, and bad info does muddy the water. But seeing stuff get pulled just makes folks not trust anyone, even the people with the right numbers. Tbh, it feels like we're stuck between cleaning up the mess and making people think there's a cover-up. The whole thing just makes talking about real fixes way harder than it should be.

Consider how removing posts can make people dig in their heels instead of changing their minds. When folks see their content taken down, they often just find other places to share it, places with less oversight. This creates echo chambers where false info gets worse. Also, calling something "debunked" depends on who you trust, and not everyone trusts the same sources. If we want real talk about climate, we need to let people question things without fear of being silenced. Otherwise, we risk pushing them away from the facts we want them to hear.

Actually, the posts that get removed usually have specific, wrong data in them. It's not about opinions, it's about numbers that don't match any real study. Letting that slide just makes the whole talk harder.
