That time a stranger at a coffee shop told me I was wrong about moderation

I was ranting to a friend about how a mod on some forum removed my post for talking about a local policy change. Some guy at the next table just said 'you're missing the point, they're not silencing you they're just managing noise.' I pushed back hard back then. But after watching that same forum turn into a spam filled mess six months later I think he was onto something. Has anyone else had a random person give them a reality check about this stuff?

Rando with wifi wisdom" - that's assuming the other person actually knew what they were talking about, lol. Like, were they just throwing out some generic "have you tried Googling it" advice, or did they drop actual facts? I need to know if this was a real burn or just someone being smug for no reason. What exactly did they say that made you feel schooled?

nguyen.angela asking the real questions lol. Nah, it wasn't just generic advice, it was something like "actually that's not how the algorithm works, here's a link explaining it" and I clicked it and they were totally right. Felt like when you realize your phone autocorrected you all day and you've been texting nonsense. Usually I'm the one throwing out wifi wisdom so getting served my own medicine stung a bit. Gotta respect the hustle though, they clearly knew their stuff better than my half remembered YouTube tutorial.
