Just lost $300 on a 'guaranteed' coworking pass in Lisbon

Bought a monthly pass online before arriving, but the place was always full and the wifi was terrible. Has anyone found a good way to check coworking spots in person before paying?

Ugh, that's the worst. I always book a day pass first to test the wifi and see how crowded it gets. Never trust the photos online.

My buddy Dave booked a month at a place in Austin that looked perfect online. The wifi cut out every time someone used the microwave. He spent half his days at the library just to send emails. The photos showed a quiet lounge, but it was right next to a shared kitchen that was a total zoo from 8 AM to 10 PM. He said it felt like living in a bus station.

Honestly sounds like a normal Tuesday. Maybe just work from a cafe?

lol that's rough, totally feel you on this one. @jadej50's friend Dave's microwave wifi story is painfully relatable - I've had a similar thing happen in a spot in Barcelona where the "fast fiber" turned out to be basically dial-up the second lunchtime hit. These places always look perfect in the staged photos but the reality is so different. Honestly, I'd say scope out the area first and just walk into a couple places around 2pm on a weekday to see the chaos levels before handing over cash. Even a quick trial day pass saves a ton of headache.
