Just realized I've been paying $80 a month for a coworking space I only use twice a week.

Was talking to a guy in Lisbon who's been nomading for 8 years. He said, 'If you're not in a space at least 15 days a month, you're just renting a very expensive chair.' He just uses cafes and his apartment, and buys a day pass if he needs a meeting room. I did the math and I'm basically paying $20 per visit. It hit different because I always thought a dedicated space was non-negotiable for 'being professional.' Now I'm wondering if that's just a habit. For those of you in cheaper cities, what's your cutoff for a monthly space versus going ad-hoc?

That Lisbon guy has a point. You're basically funding a very fancy chair's vacation home.

Remember my friend who swore by his office membership? He finally did the math and realized he was paying like forty bucks just to use their printer once a month... he dropped it and just goes to the library now. What's your plan, gonna keep the space?

So your friend basically paid for a printer with a free office attached? I'm with willowg88 on this, it's just a tax for people who like fancy chairs. I'm keeping my membership but only because I actually use the place.
