Pro tip: Don't tell a local in Medellin you're 'just working from your laptop'
This guy at a cafe last month looked at my setup and said, 'So you're basically just a tourist with a job.' It hit different coming from someone living the reality I was just visiting. Anyone else get a comment that made you rethink the whole 'nomad' label?

Ouch, that's a sharp way to put it. It really shows the gap between passing through a place and actually being part of it. Makes the whole digital nomad idea feel a bit thin sometimes, like we're just observers. Comments like that stick with you and make the whole experience more complicated.

Tourists with laptops, basically.

Man, that's a brutal way to put it. I guess my laptop and I are just on a very long, expensive tour where I also have to answer emails. Does paying rent for a month instead of a week make me a slightly less annoying tourist, or does it just mean I'm blocking a local from that apartment for longer?
