Shoutout to that little cafe in Medellin with the good wifi

I've been bouncing around South America for about 6 months now and most places claim they have 'fast internet' but it's a lie. Last week I found this tiny spot in El Poblado called Café Con Letras, tucked between two hostels. The guy running it showed me their setup, they actually have a dedicated fiber line just for the workspace area in the back. I pulled 45mbps down consistently for four straight hours one afternoon. Has anyone else found a hidden gem like that where the wifi actually works better than a coworking space?

Wait, isn't El Poblado more of a neighborhood than a specific street though?

Hang on, wait, hold up. Did you just ask if El Poblado is a neighborhood? I mean, yeah, technically it is, but that's like asking if Times Square is just a neighborhood. You're not wrong, but you're missing the whole point. Born and raised here, and even locals call it "the street" more than the neighborhood. When someone says "meet me in El Poblado," they almost always mean that specific stretch of Carrera 43 with all the clubs and restaurants, not the whole area with houses and parks. It's kind of like how people say "I'm going to the Strip" in Vegas, but they don't mean the whole street, just the busiest part. El Poblado is the same way - the neighborhood is huge, but the fun part is basically one crowded block. So yeah, you're technically correct, but it's one of those things where everyone just goes with the flow. Nobody's gonna stand on a corner and argue about the geography unless they want to sound like a walking Wikipedia article.

El Poblado is technically a neighborhood, but there's a stretch on Carrera 43 that a lot of locals call the street name itself, @wyatt135. That's where most of the bars and restaurants are packed in, so people just say they're heading "to El Poblado" even if they mean a specific block. It's kind of like how everyone says "going downtown" even when they mean one street.
