Shoutout to the guy who told me to try a 'workation' in Chiang Mai

Honestly, I thought it would just be a normal month of working from a new city. I booked a cheap co-living space for $400 and figured I'd just grind like usual. Ngl, after the first week, I was getting more done in 5 focused hours than I did in 8 back home, mostly because the internet was faster and there were fewer distractions. The unexpected part was how many other nomads were there doing the same thing, so I ended up collaborating on two small projects just from coffee shop chats. Has anyone else had a spot where the work vibe just clicked way better than you planned?

Ever wonder if fast internet in places like that actually makes it harder to disconnect? Like you go for the digital nomad life to find some balance, but then you're just working cafe hours on a fiber line instead of an office. Might defeat the whole point of being somewhere new if you're just glued to video calls all day.

My first month in Lisbon I had gigabit fiber in my apartment, and I ended up pulling more late nights than I ever did back home. You're right, it totally warps the whole idea. The faster the connection gets, the more your boss or clients expect you to be always on and available, even from a beach town. I had to force myself to book a tiny place in the mountains with spotty wifi just to actually look up from the screen.
