Spent $300 on a portable Starlink mini and it paid off in one week in Thailand
I was working from a beach in Koh Lanta last month and my hostel wifi kept dropping at 3pm every day during client calls. Dropped $300 on the Starlink mini setup and now I can work from literally anywhere with a power bank. Anyone else had to buy their own internet gear just to keep a remote job steady?

Three hundred bucks for reliable internet when your whole paycheck depends on it is a no brainer. That hostel wifi dropping at 3pm sounds like a nightmare for client calls, I've been there with sketchy connections and it's pure stress. Starlink mini is honestly the best investment for digital nomads who need to stay online without hunting for cafes. I see people complaining about the price but they've never lost a contract because their video kept freezing. Good on you for grabbing one before it got worse.

Hmm, I get that but 300 bucks is still a lot for most people though!

My boss gave me one on loan after my third dropped call in a week last May (it was a hot mess honestly). I was patching together coffee shop wifi and my mobile hotspot, which worked maybe 60% of the time. The mini is way more reliable than I expected and I haven't had a single issue since I started using it. But yeah, $300 is still a big chunk of change up front even if it pays for itself in saved stress. I get why people hesitate, especially if they're just starting out or their income is spotty.
