Update: My bank flagged my account for fraud because I was in two countries in one day

Last month I flew from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur for a meeting, then back to Thailand the same evening. My bank's automated system saw the quick country switch and froze my card, thinking it was stolen. I was stuck at a 7-Eleven in Phuket with no way to pay for a taxi or food. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific bank that's good for fast travel?

Wait, they froze your card for being in two countries in one day? That's the whole point of having a travel card, isn't it? What did they expect you to do, swim back slower? I'd be so mad if I got stuck like that over a normal flight.

My buddy in London said his bank flagged him for buying a coffee right after landing, @christopherw34. They really need to fix their fraud systems.

Wait, they flagged him for buying a coffee right after landing? That's wild. I mean, what's the point of a travel card if you can't even grab a coffee without setting off alarms? My bank did something similar once and I was stuck at an airport cafe trying to prove I was actually me.

Maybe banks should check flight times before freezing accounts.
