I used to think password managers were a security risk, now I can't believe I waited so long

For years I manually typed in every password or reused the same one across like 50 sites. I figured putting all my logins in one place was just asking for trouble, you know? Then my buddy Dave got hit with that big data breach at Target back in 2013 and lost access to his email for weeks. He showed me how his password manager generates random 20 character strings for each site and locks them behind one master password. I tried Bitwarden last January after reading their open source audit report and honestly it took maybe 2 hours to set everything up. Now I don't even remember most of my passwords and my accounts have never been safer. Has anyone else here been hesitant to switch and then found it way easier than expected?

Dude YES that sticky note under the keyboard thing is SO real! I did the exact same thing with a notepad app on my phone before I finally gave in and tried Bitwarden. Honestly the first week I was kicking myself for resisting it for YEARS over some dumb fear that never even happened.

Ngl that Target breach was the exact reason I finally caved too, but even then I still fought it for like another two years. I had my passwords in a Notes app with the cringiest folder name like "Secret Stuff" thinking I was slick. Then I locked myself out of my own email because I forgot which of the 47 variations of "password123" I used for it. Honestly my wife found my sticky note collection under the keyboard and she just left it there judging me in silence. Took me getting locked out of my own Netflix on a Friday night to finally download Bitwarden and yeah, first week I was mad at myself for not doing it sooner.

Oh man that Target breach was wild. I remember sitting there with my phone frozen watching my bank app freak out because someone got into my account through a reused password. After that I just started writing them all down on a sticky note under my keyboard. My wife found it and laughed at me. But honestly I only got a password manager last month because I kept locking myself out of my Netflix account.
