Just hit 10 years on this email address and got 50,000 spam messages
I checked my old Gmail from 2014. The spam folder had over 50,000 emails. Most of it was phishing tries and random ads. I never cleared it out because I figured it didn't matter. But looking at the number made me realize how much data I've been bleeding out over a decade. Every account I signed up for, every newsletter I forgot to unsubscribe from. It's like a trail of breadcrumbs leading right to my inbox. Makes me wonder how many of those spam bots actually sold my info to bigger trackers. Has anyone else gone back and cleaned out an old email? Did you find anything creepy?

That "trail of breadcrumbs" probably helped you find stuff you forgot you signed up for too.

Doesn't it feel like that trail of breadcrumbs is more like a full on highway at this point though? idk, like every time you sign up for something you're basically handing over your info to a dozen different companies who then hand it to a hundred more. I mean, even if you unsubscribe from newsletters, your data is already out there bouncing around. That 50,000 number is honestly just the visible tip of a way bigger iceberg, especially if you've had that email tied to stuff like shopping accounts or old social media.
