Pro tip: using a password manager saved me from my own bad habits

I finally gave in and tried Bitwarden last month after years of ignoring the advice. I always thought my system of reusing a few passwords with slight tweaks was good enough. Then I actually checked haveibeenpwned.com and found my email in 14 different data breaches. That got my attention. After setting up the password manager and generating unique passwords for everything, I feel a lot better about my accounts. The only surprise was how long it took to change all my old passwords. Has anyone else had trouble getting friends or family to switch to using one?

Oh man, my buddy Bob lost his Facebook account for a month before he'd try one.

Has anyone thought about how password managers might actually make us less careful about phishing? I started using one and now I don't even look at the URL before autofilling. Last week I almost logged into a fake google login page but caught it at the last second because the password manager didn't offer to fill. If I hadn't been paying attention, I would have just typed my master password right into a scam site without thinking twice. Feels like we traded one bad habit for another if we aren't careful.

It helps to start with just a few important accounts like email and banking, not all at once. Changing everything in one go is honestly a bit overwhelming and makes people quit before they see the benefits lol. Bitwarden is a solid choice though, free and works great on mobile too.
