Remember thinking those 'tin foil hat' types were nuts for covering their laptop cameras?
Then my friend, who works IT for a school district, showed me a log where a piece of bloatware on a brand new laptop had triggered the webcam 47 times in a single day without any user input... What finally made you take physical privacy seriously?

My buddy's smart TV started talking about a commercial it heard, and nobody was even in the room. That was the moment for him.

It's wild how many devices are just listening now, waiting for a keyword or a stray sound.

That smart TV story is next level creepy. Makes you wonder what else is picking up background noise and sending data back. My old router logs showed my "smart" speaker pinging some unknown server every few minutes, even with the mute button on. Hardware mute switches and tape feel like the only real fix now.
