Wait hold up, "JohnSmithFamilyWifi" is actually real? I thought people just made that up as a joke, that's insane. Seriously though, how do router companies not see that as a giant privacy red flag right out of the box.

Man that exact thing happened to me with my dad's router last year. The SSID was literally "JohnSmithFamilyWifi" and I was like dad you might as well put a sign on the lawn with your social security number. Took me forever to walk him through changing it on the phone because he kept saying "but that's my name" like it was some kind of honor badge. Ended up just naming it something boring like "Network2" and he still complains he can't find it sometimes. Idk why these companies default to using people's real names it's such a weird privacy hole right out of the box.

JohnSmithFamilyWifi" sounds like a free buffet invite for every hacker in the neighborhood.
