Why does nobody talk about how much data smart TVs collect

I was super skeptical when my buddy warned me about smart TV tracking. Like, come on, it's a TV, not a spy device right? Then I actually looked up what my Samsung TV sends back to the mothership. Turns out it tracks every app I open, how long I watch, and even listens for voice commands 24/7. I found a setting buried three menus deep that literally said 'enable ad tracking' and it was turned ON by default. Scared me enough that I disconnected mine from WiFi completely last week. Has anyone else actually gone through their TV settings and disabled all this stuff or am I overreacting?

Nope, not overreacting at all. That ad tracking crap is buried deep for a reason. My LG TV had the same thing, found it under "live plus" or some nonsense name. Switched it off and unplugged the ethernet cable the same day. Honestly feels like every smart TV is just a data farm with a screen attached.

Actually "Live Plus" is the rebranded version of it, same thing just renamed.
