Found out from a Social Security rep that the average wait time for a hearing decision in my state is now 387 days

I read that statistic on the official SSA office of analytics page while waiting for my reconsideration to clear and it really put my own 14 month wait into perspective, has anyone else noticed the backlog getting worse since 2020?

My own doctor's office wait times jumped from 2 weeks to 5 months for a routine physical. It's like the whole system just stalled out after 2020 and never really got moving again. I tried to renew my passport last year and the website said 8-10 weeks, but it ended up taking almost 6 months. Even basic stuff like getting a contractor out to fix a leaky faucet now involves a 3 week wait, when it used to be next day. Everything's backed up, from government paperwork to small business services, and nobody seems to have the staff to catch up.

Is it really that bad, @claire_young76, or just a few extra weeks?

Seems like everything takes forever now, even getting your own money back lol.
