That one Thursday in March wrecked my whole appeal timeline

I had everything organized for my disability hearing, my doctor's notes from 2022 and a stack of records from the clinic on 5th Street. Then my lawyer called and said the judge retired, so my case got reassigned to someone new with a 9 month backlog. Has anyone else had their whole timeline thrown off by an unexpected judge change?

Hear me out though - a 9 month backlog could mean your case gets rushed through with less review, and a fresh judge might not grant the same weight to those old 2022 records.

Oh MAN, @the_tessa you hit on something I see ALL the time in regular life too. Like when a restaurant gets a new manager who decides the old specials don't matter anymore, even if they were crowd favorites for years. Judges are the same way - they come in with their own pet peeves and preferences, so those 2022 documents might as well be ancient history if the new person doesn't care about the previous guy's methods. It's the same pattern everywhere, just slower and with more paperwork here.

Honestly that might be a blessing in disguise. The old judge could have had a reputation for denying claims left and right, and the new one might actually read through your evidence carefully.
