Found out Dawn kills fleas in 30 seconds flat

I was scrolling through a vet forum last night and saw someone claim Dawn dish soap kills fleas on contact. I looked up a study from the University of Kentucky that said it works because the surfactants strip the waxy coating off the flea and they drown in seconds. Tried it on my dog after a walk through the park near Elm Street and it actually worked better than the $15 topical drops I usually buy. Has anyone else here used dish soap for pest control or am I just late to this trick?

Jumped on this same trick two years ago when we had a stray cat with fleas. Makes you realize how many expensive products are just fancy soap with different labels.

Ngl though some of those fancy soaps actually use different ingredients than cheap dish soap.

@the_wade yeah you're right, a lot of those fancy natural soaps have stuff like castile soap base or essential oils instead of the harsh degreasers in cheap dish soap. The cheap stuff works fine for grease but it can strip your skin pretty bad if you use it every day. I've noticed the nicer soaps leave my hands feeling way less dry after washing dishes.
