Hot take: My worst dish soap week actually proved Ajax is better than Dawn

Last month I ran out of Dawn and had to use a bottle of Ajax my roommate left under the sink for 4 days straight. That Ajax handled a greasy lasagna pan and a burned pot of rice without needing half the bottle. Has anyone else found that a cheaper soap actually works better when you give it a real chance?

That 4 day test with Ajax reminds me of how people trash store brand cereal until they actually do a blind taste test. I did the same thing with laundry detergent last year. Switched to the generic stuff to save money and my clothes came out just as clean, and I didn't have to use extra scoops like with the expensive brand. Makes you wonder how much of this stuff is just good marketing. Have you noticed that with other household products too?

Blew my mind when I realized the same thing with pain relievers. Look at the active ingredients on a bottle of Advil versus the Walmart brand ibuprofen. Theyre literally the same chemical compound at the same milligram strength. But people swear the name brand works faster or better. Its insane how much we pay for a logo and a commercial with a dude in a lab coat. Same goes for trash bags, I swear the generic ones rip just as much as the Glad ones but cost half the price. Marketing is basically a tax on people who dont read labels.
