Shoutout to my $3 sponge trick that made my Dawn last 3 extra weeks
I was scrubbing a greasy lasagna pan last month and got annoyed at how fast my soap was disappearing. So I tried cutting a tiny slit in my sponge and just putting the bottle nozzle inside to squirt the soap straight into the sponge. Now I use maybe a quarter of the soap per wash. I'm on the same bottle of Dawn I've had since late August. Has anyone else tried filling their sponge like that or do you just pour soap out like normal?

Walmart has a pack of 12 sponges for like $4, and I've been cutting slits in each one right when I open them. @emery290 is right about scrub brushes working the same way, but I found that with a sponge you gotta make sure the slit isn't too big or the soap just dribbles out when you set it down. I squeeze a dime-sized amount into the sponge every few days instead of pouring fresh soap each time, and honestly my hands don't get as dried out from the constant rinsing either. It's one of those things where you feel like you're saving money AND getting less annoyed at the dishes, which is a win-win in my book.
