@beth276 you know what, I used to roll my eyes at that kind of thing. Thought pencils were just for school and doodling. But then my own dad showed me how he'd use one to unstick a zipper, mark drill holes, even fix a sticky window track. That little graphite dust acts like a dry lubricant, and the eraser end works great for pushing things into alignment. Dad's old pencil got more use than half the tools in the shed, and I finally get why your dad swore by them. It's one of those simple tricks that just works, no batteries or instructions needed.

@gibson.morgan that's exactly it. My grandpa was the same way - always had a stubby pencil tucked behind his ear. Used it to mark lumber cuts, scribble quick measurements on drywall, even clean battery terminals once. The graphite trick for zippers saved me from busting a cheap jacket zipper more times than I can count. It's funny how something so simple outlasts all the fancy gadgets we buy. Makes you wonder what other old-school tricks we've forgotten about.
