Thought tubeless tires were a gimmick until I got 3 flats in one month

I fought tubeless for years. Kept running tubes on my mountain bike. After my third flat last September I got sick of patching. Buddy at the shop let me borrow his setup. Used his compressor and some Stan's sealant. First ride I hit a sharp rock and heard that hiss. Waited 10 seconds and it sealed itself. I was just standing there staring at my tire. No tube to replace, no patches. Took me about 20 minutes total to convert my wheels. Been running them 8 months with zero flats. Anyone else switch later than everyone else and feel dumb about it?

28 psi is crazy low though, that's like half what I used to run with tubes. Honestly kinda scary to think how much we were overinflating before.

You mentioned "first ride I hit a sharp rock" - what pressure were you running?

Oh man, I was running like 28 psi in the rear. Way lower than I used to run with tubes, but it worked fine.
