TIL using a sewing needle for stick and poke instead of a tattoo needle makes the WORST scars

I tried doing a little star on my ankle with a sterilized sewing needle because I didn't want to wait for shipping on real tattoo needles. The ink barely took and I had to poke like 50 times deeper than normal. Ended up with a raised scar that's still pink 3 months later and the star looks all blown out. Has anyone else tried using random household stuff for tattoos and totally regretted it?

Oh man, I did the same thing with a safety pin and India ink when I was like 19. My little heart shape is now a blurry purple blob and you can still feel the bump years later, learned that lesson the hard way too.

Woah yeah that totally changed my mind too. I used to think cheap home tattoos were kind of cool and edgy but hearing how yours turned out makes me never want to try it. Sticking to real artists from now on no matter what it costs.

Figured it wasn't a huge deal and people were just being dramatic about it. But seeing how that star turned out makes me glad I never got around to trying it with a bent paperclip like I planned back in high school. Just gonna save up and go to a proper shop.
