Tried a stick and poke on my ankle last weekend... it faded way faster than I thought.

I did a little star design on my inner ankle using India ink and a sewing needle, real careful about sterilization. It looked great for like 3 days, super crisp and dark. Then by day 7 it was barely visible, like a light grey smudge. I'm honestly surprised at how much ink just fell out during healing. Has anyone else had a stick and poke fade that much or did I just do something wrong?

nah honestly i wouldn't stress about it that much. stick and pokes fade for basically everyone the first time unless you're like a tattoo artist doing it. the ink sits way more on the surface unless you go deep enough and even then home tattoos just dont hold the same as machine work. plus ankle skin is thin and moves a lot so stuff heals weird there. unless it totally vanished overnight i wouldnt say you did anything dangerously wrong, just that it needs a touch up. a lot of people act like stick and pokes are this sacred art form but really it's just poking ink into yourself, sometimes it sticks sometimes it doesnt.

nah stick and pokes hold just fine if you actually know what you're doing." west.casey's tattoo proves it. sounds like you just didn't go deep enough or your technique was off.

Nah gotta push back, my first stick and poke is still dark as hell three years later.
