Have you noticed how people always think they can save money by doing the professional stuff themselves? In my experience, the whole cheap tool thing is a trap. Whether it's tattoo guns, haircutting kits, or even just home repair stuff, people buy the budget version and it almost always ends badly. Your mileage may vary of course, but I've seen this pattern play out so many times where the real cost ends up being medical bills or a bigger mess. It's like we all forget that some skills and tools are worth paying for because the cheap route just cuts corners on safety and quality. Take this with a grain of salt, but I'd rather save up for the real deal than risk an infection or permanent damage.

And yeah @umar49, that's exactly why I waited and saved for my first real machine instead of going the Amazon route.

Guess the universe decided you needed a $400 lesson in why tattoo artists charge what they do. Hope that infection gives you a fun new scar to match the one you were trying to cover up. At least now you've got a great conversation starter for why you never buy the budget version of anything sharp that goes into your skin.
