Spotted an old school bus buried out near Smithville today
Drove past a farm off Route 73 and saw a school bus sticking halfway out of a hill. Looked like someone retrofitted it in the 80s and forgot. I bet the shell is still solid if the frame didn't rust through. Anyone else ever run across something like that and wonder if it's salvageable?

Retrofitted in the 80s and forgot" - that part got me. Who just forgets an entire bus buried in a hill? That sounds like something you'd find in a horror movie. If the frame is solid, I'd be tempted to see if you could dig the rest of it out and turn it into a cabin or something.

Nah, it's not really a horror movie thing. More like a weird local legend that no one bothered to follow up on.
You gotta be careful with the frame though. Buses from the 70s and 80s were built tough but that rust builds up fast once the dirt gets in all the joints.
Digging it out would be a massive project too. You're talking about moving tons of earth, dealing with possible structural damage, and probably needing permits you don't want to think about.
