Pro tip: My kid's school email got hacked last Tuesday and it turned out they were reusing the same password since 2019

That password was on three data breach lists from old shopping sites and the hacker sent out 200 phishing links to parents before IT locked it down, so how often do you actually check your family's accounts on haveibeenpwned?

My family's passwords are all in a password manager now after my nephew's Fortnite account got popped last summer.

Price Ray's got the right idea with password managers, those things are lifesavers. Just a heads up though, you still gotta run accounts through haveibeenpwned even with a manager since it shows you which old passwords are floating around out there. A quick check every few months on the family's emails catches a lot before it turns into a mess.

Is it really that serious though? Unless you're reusing passwords across banks and email, most breaches are just spam accounts.
