Spent $15 on a password manager last month and it already paid off

I finally got tired of resetting my email password every few weeks so I paid for a year of Bitwarden premium. It auto-filled my login on a fake banking site I almost clicked and saved me from giving my real credentials to a scammer. Has anyone else had a cheap tool catch something like that for them?

Bitwarden caught me too on a fake Amazon login page.

Did you report that fake page to Amazon right away? I fell for something similar last year and Bitwarden saved me from typing my password into a sketchy Google login clone. The autofill just didn't pop up and that was my first clue. @adams.uma its crazy how good those phishing pages look now, they even had the same little loading animation. I always double check the URL bar before typing anything now, even if it looks perfect.

See I actually disagree a bit on the autofill thing. I turned that feature off on purpose because I got paranoid about it saving stuff I didn't want it to. But you're totally right about checking the URL bar - that's the real lifesaver these days. I almost fell for a fake PayPal login last month that had the URL wrong by just one letter, "paypa1" instead of "paypal" with an L. The fact that they copy every little detail down to the loading bar is scary. I think people get too comfortable with password managers doing the thinking for them and stop looking at the address bar completely.
