Spent 4 hours trying to secure my router, turns out it was the default admin password all along

I finally locked down my home WiFi after ignoring it for 2 years, but the dumbest part was logging into the admin panel for the first time and realizing the password was still 'admin'. Has anyone else found a hidden setting in their router that made a huge difference?

QoS is a rabbit hole for sure. One hidden gem most people miss is actually the UPnP settings. Turning that off stopped my kid's xbox from randomly opening ports to the whole internet. Also saw a huge speed boost after disabling IPv6 on the LAN side since my ISP doesn't support it properly anyway.

Did you mess with the QoS settings at all? I spent like an hour figuring out why my streaming kept buffering, only to realize I had it set to prioritize my smart fridge over everything else.

My smart fridge doesn't even need the internet, so I ignored QoS completely.
