I thought those cheap stud finders from the dollar store were total junk.
I was hanging a shelf in my bedroom and the one I had kept giving false readings. My buddy lent me his Zircon model, and it found the studs right away, no guessing. Has anyone else had a bad time with the super cheap tools?

It's the same with cheap phone chargers, they break fast and aren't worth the hassle.

Honestly depends on the brand though. Some cheap ones are surprisingly tough.

Oh totally, you're right on the money there @pat_moore. I've had some off-brand stuff last for years, while a fancy one died in months. It really is a roll of the dice. I bought a cheap power strip once as a quick fix, and that thing is still going strong a decade later. Makes you wonder what you're really paying for with the big names sometimes.
